Services gives back to customers

MISAWA AIR BASE -- Japan --  The 35th Services Squadron is hosting a customer appreciation week Feb. 3-10 filled with various activities and prizes.

"Anyone here on Misawa can enjoy the festivities whether they are a customer or not," said Ms. Terra Erb, marketing assistant for services. "We want to show Misawa Air Base that we care and appreciate their business."

A 24-hour scavenger hunt hosted by the Mokuteki Community Center will start Friday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. Four and eight-person teams have to sign up by Feb. 7 in order to win the cash prizes.

The eight-person first place team will receive $2,000; second place winners receive $1,250; and third place receives $750. The first place four-person team will receive $500; second place is $400; and third place is $300.

"The four-person team was created to generate interest for our younger Airmen as well as unaccompanied NCOs who want to participate with each other," said Mr. Darren Svan, director of the community center.

Mr. Svan creates the scavenger hunt list every year and this year's list contains more than 300 items to find.

Another special event headed up by the Collocated Club will feature Sinbad the comedian Feb. 8.

"He is coming here that week to give services customers something fun to watch," said Ms. Erb.

Other events include a Winterfest at Gosser Memorial Golf Course with snowshoeing, a snow making contest and free food Feb. 3, from 12 - 4 p.m.

A Funfest at the Weasels Den will have miniature golf, go-cart racing and bouncy castles for the kids Feb. 6 from 5-8 p.m.

"We want people to come out and just enjoy the activities," she said.

The Grissom Dining Facility will host a Mardi Gras lunch on Fat Tuesday, Feb. 5, and a Super Bowl breakfast at the Collocated Club from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Feb. 4 will allow members to watch the Super Bowl and eat at the same time.

"There will also be a Brew City Buffet at halftime and surprise giveaways," said Ms. Erb.
