The Eagles heckled the Chiefs during warm-ups at the Eagles vs. Chiefs volleyball game Mar. 14 at 2 p.m., but it was the Chief's who had the last laugh.

The Chiefs took home the championship trophy and "bragging rights" Friday afternoon after competing in a best-out-of-five 25-point game tournament.

"The Chiefs are going to stomp the Eagles," said Chief Master Sgt. Matthew Potter, with the Misawa Security Operations Center. "We have been practicing for more than 20 years individually so it's in hand, I think," he said during a pre-game interview.

The colonels held a light-hearted aspect before the game as well.

"I'm looking at my adversaries and I'm looking at a few strained muscles, a pulled back or two, and someone with a knee brace so I think we are going to go after them first," said Col. Joel Malone, 35th Fighter Wing vice commander.

However, one idea the colonels and chiefs had in common was the "bragging rights."

"This is about the colonels and the chiefs," said Colonel Malone. "This is about being the big dogs on base here."

The Eagles scored the first point of the game but the Chiefs won the first round.

After switching court sides, the Eagles made their comeback with a lead of 25 to 21.

Chiefs took back the game for the third round with a 25 to 7 lead.

Both sides were tied up for more than half of the fourth game and the competitors grew louder with cheers but the Eagles broke the streak with a 25 to 22 lead.

The Chiefs had the last victory, breaking the tie for the win and their bragging rights.
