Where are you from?

Augusta, Ga.

What's your favorite thing about being stationed in Japan?
I married my wife and had two of my children here. I have been blessed.

Who has been your greatest Air Force mentor and what quality about this mentor do you value most?
My greatest mentor to date has been Capt. Gloria Walksi. Captain Walski really exceeded every standard put in front of her. She challenged those who worked with and for her to do the same and never lowered her standards. That's how I want to lead, by setting a great example.

What is your primary professional goal at this point in your career?
My professional goal for my career right now is to set the medical readiness office up for success after my departure and expand my experience in my career field to better prepare me for the future leadership positions that I am sure are to come.

What motivates you?
My family motivates me. My family is so wonderful and they deserve a father and a husband who is going to succeed in the Air Force and beyond.

Describe the best day of your life.
On Dec. 13, 2006, my son Ian Walter Clouse was born. He weighed 9 pounds, 5 ounces and when the doctor pulled him out and held him in the air she said he is a big guy just like his daddy. That's one of those free moments where it is ok to cry as a man.

What advice would you give to new Airmen?
Respect your position. Your job may not get you in front of your commander for accolades, but if you fail to accomplish your job it will eventually affect you and everyone around you. Be a leader. Don't be afraid to speak up, but remember it pays to listen.

Supervisor's comment:
Sergeant Clouse personifies "service before self." Medical readiness is the smallest flight with the biggest impact in the medical group. Between training, exercises, deployments and the planning in between, the MDG relies on the three people in this flight to ensure the entire group is ready for any contingency. Sergeant Clouse is the glue that holds it all together. Without his personal attention to detail and devotion to the mission, the MDG deployment mission, in particular, would not happen.
