Misawa Spotlight Published Oct. 10, 2008 By the 35th Force Support Squadron Staff Sgt. Charissa Williams -- Where are you from? I was born in the Philippines, grew up and graduate high school here in Misawa, Japan, and then moved to San Antonio, Texas. What's your favorite thing about being stationed in Japan? Being close to my sister, and her family and the food. Who has been your greatest Air Force mentor and what quality about this mentor do you value most? My greatest Air Force mentor is Master Sgt. Melanie K. Noel, who is now a first sergeant at Lackland Air Force Base. She is an excellent role model, and a good teacher who is organized and has good time management skills. Sergeant Noel sets high standards of expectations and takes you out of your comfort zone. She is a good listener who encourages a positive attitude about life. What is your primary professional goal at this point in your career? Right now, I just want to finish my degree and make technical sergeant the first time. What motivates you? My husband, Herb, and my two kids, Lheylani and Jaylen What advice would you give to new Airmen? Lead by example, do your best. Treat people with respect and do the right thing. Supervisor's comment: "It would be a lost not to have someone as Sergeant Williams as a future chief in the Air Force. She is a reflection of the drive, self-discipline, adaptive nature and balance in what the Air Force is looking for in its' leaders." -- Tech. Sgt. Mervyn Seivwright, 35th FSS Military Personnel Flight Customer Service Section chief
