Misawa celebrates 62 years of Air Force history Published Sept. 16, 2009 By Senior Airman Stefanie Torres 35th Fighter Wing Public Affairs MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan -- Misawa will host the U.S. Air Force Ball Sept. 25 in honor of 62 years since the establishment of the Air Force Sept. 18, 1947. Tickets will be on sale until Sept. 18 and can be obtained through any first sergeant. This year's theme, "Celebrating Milestones: Misawa Air Base History," will be held in the enlisted club ballroom. "This is going to be a great event," said Master Sgt. Michael Dashler, 35th Fighter Wing staff agencies first sergeant. "The committee has worked very hard putting this together for us." The 600-seat ball will offer guest speakers talking about the past, present and future of the Air Force, The Air Force Band of the Pacific, Northern Air Defense Force band, 3rd Air Wing quartet and Koto players from Japan. The Japan Air Self-Defense Force is also invited to join the occasion, making this a bilateral event. "We have a lot of entertainment planned from the U.S. and Japanese culture," said Master Sgt. Olin Wilson IV, 35th Operations Group first sergeant. Cocktail hour starts at 6 p.m. and dinner at 8:30 p.m. Cost is $20 for E-6 and below, and $25 for E-7 and above. All Airmen can purchase tickets via credit card, club card or cash. Misawa Community and Services Against Drunk Driving will also be at the event for anyone that needs a ride home. Enlisted Airmen planning to attend should wear mess dress or semi-formal, which is service dress with a white, collared shirt in place of a blues shirt. Females must wear a skirt, nylons and heels.
