Cummings teacher makes difference

Professional educators at Cummings Elementary School gathered to see their fellow teacher recognized Feb. 10.

Colonel RC Craig, 35th Fighter Wing vice commander, visited Cummings to recognize the outstanding Special Education Program and Ms Brenda Fine, the professional educator responsible for it.

While presenting the 35th Fighter Wing's "You Made a Difference" Award, Colonel Craig acknowledged, "Your dedication, patience, limitless effort, and expertise in the area of educational strategies have combined to provide a truly outstanding special education program here at Cummings. This program enables our at-risk students to perform at their optimum, enjoy success, and build self-esteem. Your positive energy and enthusiasm continue to benefit the students, the school, and the community as evidenced through the student mentoring program, Pacific-wide publicity program, and community fundraising efforts. On behalf of the leadership and families of Misawa Air Base, we offer our sincere appreciation for your continued dedication and outstanding service."
