Rescue crews arrive at Misawa

Two urban search and rescue teams (USAR), one from Fairfax County, Va. And another from Los Angeles arrived at Misawa Air Base, Japan at approximately 3 p.m., Mar.13, 2011.

The USAR team consists of approximately 150 rescuers and 12 rescue dogs.

Another rescue crew from United Kingdom consisting of 60 rescuers and 2 dogs are scheduled to arrive Misawa Air Base later this evening.

The teams will be joining together and traveling to Miyagi Prefecture to help with search and rescue operations.

"We are glad to accept all the help we can get to assist the people of Japan," said Col. Michael Rothstein, 35th Fighter Wing commander. "We will do whatever is in our means to support their efforts in this time of need."
