Base elevators safe and operational after quake

MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan --  After the 7.1-magnitude aftershock in Japan April 7, the 35th Civil Engineer Squadron and local contractors inspected all elevators on base, deeming them safe for use.

The earthquake also caused a power outage on base and in the surrounding community, rendering more than 20 elevators found on base unsafe for use. The 35th CES have now placed them all back into normal operations April 11.
