Japan Day is scheduled for Saturday, October 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Misawa Collocated Club, here.

Celebrated annually for the past 24 years, Japan Day invites hundreds of Japanese artists and craftsmen on base to share their talents with the Misawa community.

In a single day, attendees can enjoy traditional Japanese food, music, and arts in the convenience of their own base.

"Japan Day is historically held in springtime, but due to the earthquake this year it's been postponed to October," said 1st Lt. Nathan Martin, project officer for the event. "We've had a tremendous amount of support both on and off base to make sure Japan Day 2011 continues this incredible base tradition."

Planned exhibits include koto music, kimono wearing, zen meditation, kite flying, and much more.

"With so much variety, there's something fun for people of all ages and interests at Japan Day," said Martin. "We hope to see our entire community attend this year's event."
