Nominees rank and name:
Senior Airman April Bolin, 35th Medical Group surgical technician.

Where are you from?
San Antonio, TX.

What's your favorite thing about being stationed in Japan?
I love the Japanese culture and food. I will miss how nice the Japanese are when I PCS as well as the delicious food!

Who has been your greatest Air Force mentor and what quality about this mentor do you value most?

Tech Sgt. Ami Bruce was my greatest Air Force Mentor. I valued that she treated me with respect and adjusted her teaching methods to the way that I learned best and she taught me to always keep pushing on through the hard times and things always get better.

What is your primary professional goal at this point in your career?
I am looking forward to getting my Community College of the Air Force degree and completing Airmen Leadership School.

What motivates you?

My husband and family motivate me. I don't know what I would do without them.

Describe the best day of your life.
The best day of my life was the day I graduated from basic training. I was happy to finally have some financial freedom and be able to get out on my own and travel. I was so proud of myself for making it through basic training and getting Honor Graduate even thought I spent four months there because of a knee injury.

What advice would you give to new Airmen?
Write down everything you do to help your supervisors out with your enlisted performance reports and get out and be active!

Supervisor's comment:
"Senior Airman Bolin is very willing to get out there and do the jobs most people wouldn't like to do," said Staff Sgt. Derald Brown, 35th Medical Group noncommissioned officer in charge of the operating room. "She is always looking for ways to improve the section and is constantly searching for more efficient ways to do everyday tasks. She also volunteers a lot and can always be counted on to get involved in Squadron, Group, and Wing level activities."
