USFJ command chief speaks to Misawa SNCOs

MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan --  Chief Master Sgt. Douglas McIntyre, Command Chief Master Sergeant for the United States Forces Japan and Fifth Air Force, visited Misawa Air Base July 26, 2012.

McIntyre is a senior enlisted leader responsible for matters related to readiness, welfare and effective utilization of over 33,000 enlisted members assigned to the joint services of the United States Forces, Japan and Fifth Air Force.

For three days, McIntyre toured base facilities including the collocated club, Armed Forces Network-Misawa, Northern Air Defense Force and the base dormitories.

McIntyre met and praised Airmen of all rank stationed at Misawa for their hard work and motivational work ethics.

"Serving your nation is honorable," said McIntyre. "I just want to say thank you."

During the visit, McIntyre was the guest speaker at Misawa's first Bilateral Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Induction Ceremony.

The Bilateral Senior NCO induction ceremony is an event that welcomes the new senior NCO Air Force and Japanese members who've made it to the next level in their career.

"Just like a professional athlete will get inducted into the hall of fame to highlight how they have become a true professional, we want to welcome our SNCOs who have reached a new level in their careers," said McIntyre.

While speaking at the ceremony, McIntyre provided praise for each military member's achievement and advice to the new senior NCO.

"It's a big deal," said McIntyre, "and anything we can do to equip our new SNCOs with the tools they need to be affective, we should take it."
