More than 800 base members and Japanese citizens from the local community poured into the Misawa City Civic Center, Japan, Nov. 14, 2012, and rushed to get the best seats in the house. The audience sat quietly in the darkness before the stage lit up and the music from Tops In Blue, the Air Force's premier entertainment showcase, broke the silence.

The 2012 Tops In Blue theme, "Listen," was about how much our ears hear every day, whether it be the hustle and bustle of city life, the sound of one's own heart or the words of a friend who is in need, said one tops in blue vocalist.

Over the next couple of hours, the audience was serenaded with cover songs from Michael Jackson, Adele, Carrie Underwood and many other artists. The show also honored the American Nation and its heroes with patriotic music.

The Airmen who are selected yearly to perform their 10-month tour are multi-talented as they master the vocal, instrumental, choreography and technical skills required to build and set up each of their shows.

The hard work of the 35 member Tops In Blue team does not go unappreciated though, as Misawa's crowd awarded them by springing from their chairs with a standing ovation.

"I thought the show was great, and my kids loved it; we look forward to it every year" said Tech. Sgt. Darrell Ingrum, 35th Maintenance Squadron support NCO in charge, who attended the event.
