Munitions loading demonstrations: 9:10 AM, 11:30 AM, and 1:10 PM - See how the 35th Maintenance Group and Japan Air Self-Defense Force partners load munitions onto an F-16 Fighting Falcon and F-35 Lightning II! Each U.S. loading demonstration will display different munition types and loadouts tailored for different combat scenarios. 

Japanese Ground Self Defense Force Display--For the 1st time ever, Misawa Air Fest will include special static displays from the JGSDF, including the Type 88 long-range missile systems, FH-70 howitzer & more ground combat vehicles. This demonstration will showcase the unique capabilities that the JGSDF contributes to the defense of Japan.

Facility Closures During Air Fest

AAFES Facilities Closure Information (September 21, 2025):

  • Misawa Air Base Exchange will be closed  
  • Food Court will be closed
    • Pizza Hut will be set up on the Flightline
    • Baskin Robbins, Charley’s, Einstein Bagels, Taco Bell and Subway will have booths set up on the grassy area adjacent to the food court
  • Burger King will be opened from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Popeyes will be opened from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • The Express Shoppette will be opened 24/7
  • Gas Station will be closed

AAFES facilities will resume normal hours of operation September 22, 2025.

The Misawa Air Base Commissary will be closed on Sunday, September 21, 2025 for Air Fest. On Monday September 22, the commissary will open with full service instead of self-checkout only. 

AFN will broadcast Air Fest live on AM 1575 during the event
