Base Honor Guard Training and Recrutment

ELIGIBILITY

  • Applicants must have approval from their supervisor & First Sergeant. In addition to, at least 12 months left on station from the time they begin Honor Guard training except as specified below:
    • *Applicants may be approved a contract agreement for less than 12 months if their DEROS precedes a standard 12 month contract. This consideration will be granted on a case-by-case basis upon review by the Honor Guard officer-in-charge (OIC), Superintendent and or the non-commissioned officer-in-charge (NCOIC). The member must have a minimum of six (6) months on station after the completion of training and or prior Honor Guard experience.
  • Applicants must not be on a Control Roster, nor have a UIF/Article/Court Martial (pending or otherwise).

TRAINING

  • Base Honor Guard Trainings are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1500-1700 at Bldg. 973 Weasels Den (with the exception of Family Days and Holidays, and during Wing Exercises) Please feel free to come by and check us out.
  • Initial training consists of learning: standing, flagstaff and rifle manuals as well as the colors posting sequence.
  • The Base Honor Guard Evaluation consist of the successful demonstration of the skills stated above, and the recital of the Base Honor Guard Charge.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Members may be required to perform any duty within the scope of the Misawa Air Base
    Honor Guard. Members are responsible for staying current on all changes related to Honor
    Guard instructions, manuals, and policies.
  • Members must be of good reputation having integrity, ethical conduct and exhibiting standards which merit respect both on and off duty, whilst adhering to all Dress and Appearance standards.
  • Members must keep their uniform and issued items in excellent condition ensuring serviceability. Members must notify Honor Guard Leadership if uniform/other issued items are no longer serviceable/require replacement and or if lost or stolen.
  • Maintaining competence for all assigned drills and ceremonies as well as be knowledgeable of ceremonial formations and protocols.
