Wild Weasel of the Week: Airman 1st Class Israel Aguilar Each week a member of the 35th Fighter Wing is selected as the Wild Weasel of the Week. This individual is recognized based on superior performance, outstanding work ethic, and overall good conduct and discipline. The 35th Operations Support Squadron chose Airman 1st Class Israel Aguilar, combat intelligence cell analyst, as its Wild Weasel of the Week. What is your daily mission? My job is to support the various missions of the 35 FW. I provide threat assessments to leadership dealing with, but not limited to, economic and trade policies around Asia, political and societal issues, threats in the U.S. Pacific Command area of responsibility, and weapons issues around the world. This information is also provided to other support personnel at Misawa AB like the 13th and 14th Fighter Squadrons, security forces, explosive ordnance disposal and office of special investigations. What do you enjoy about your job? Working alongside the world's greatest and being able to learn how to be a better intelligence professional are one of the many things I enjoy about my job. Why did you choose to serve in the Air Force? I feel like serving is my way to give back to the nation that has given us opportunities not available in other countries. What is your favorite thing about living in Japan? I love snowboarding here in Japan. You won't find a better setting to shred than in Japan. Who has been your best mentor and what have they taught you? I'd have to thank 1st Lt. Austin Davis. Besides having to put up with me for hours on end and breaking down "simple concepts," he has shown me it is essential to put the needs of others before the needs of yourself. Those are the qualities of a great leader and I respect him even more for that. How long have you been stationed at Misawa? 14 months (WOOD!) How long have you been in the Air Force? About 2 years What goals do you want to meet while at Misawa? Travel through all of Japan. What goals do you want to meet during your Air Force career? I hope to be able to pass on all the wisdom and knowledge I have accumulated over the years onto the younger Airmen of the intelligence community. When I first arrived here at Misawa three months ago, Airman Aguilar was one of the first to ensure I understood concepts and tasks essential here to support the fighter wing. He truly takes pride in teaching others what he knows to help them succeed and learning all he can to increase his knowledge.
