Wild Weasel of the Week: Airman 1st Class Joanna Lopez

Each week a member of the 35th Fighter Wing is selected as the Wild Weasel of the Week. This individual is recognized based on superior performance, outstanding work ethic, and overall good conduct and discipline.

The 35th Civil Engineer Squadron chose Airman 1st Class Joanna Lopez, emergency management logistics journeyman, as their Wild Weasel of the Week.

What is your daily mission?
Emergency management logistics.

What do you enjoy about your job?
Throughout this job I have learned how to improve my time management skills, be flexible, and problem solve.

Why did you choose to serve in the Air Force?
I joined in search of stability.

What is your favorite thing about living in Japan?
I enjoy the beautiful scenery during road trips, heated western style toilets, onsens, CoCos curry and their polite demeanor.

Who has been your best mentor and what have they taught you?
Senior Airman Felicia Tiumalu is the prime example that not only the old who are wise. Some single Airmen who come overseas have a difficult time flourishing as a person when they are so far from home and out of their comfort zone. I was taught the importance of making myself a priority. That once I took care of myself financially, spiritually, mentally and physically, the rest gets easier; and it did.

One year and two months

How long have you been in the Air Force?
Almost two years

What goals do you want to meet while at Misawa?
Before I leave Misawa, I want to complete my Community College of the Air Force degree.

What goals do you want to meet during your Air Force career?
During my Air Force career I want to travel as much as possible, soak in different cultures and truly learn how to be a great leader.
