Each week a member of the 35th Fighter Wing is selected as the Wild Weasel of the Week. This individual is recognized based on superior performance, outstanding work ethic, and overall good conduct and discipline.

The 610th Air Control Flight chose Senior Airman Christopher McWhorter, a weapons director, as their Wild Weasel of the Week.

What is your daily mission?
I provide operational support to the 35th Operations Group, including two F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter squadrons, by conducting Suppression of Enemy Air Defense air operations through tactical control.

What do you enjoy about your job?
I like that I am the pilots' "3rd wingman," making sure our pilots take down the enemy safely.

Why did you choose to serve in the Air Force?
I wanted to do everything I could to protect my country.

What is your favorite thing about living in Japan?
I enjoy how friendly and accommodating the local people are.

Who has been your best mentor and what have they taught you?
I've had a lot of mentors over the years, but Ms. Denise Webb and Mr. Clarence Lozano, from the 612th Air and Space Operations Center, have definitely helped me out the most.  They taught how to use and troubleshoot the Theater Battle Management Control System, how to properly write documents for the Air Force, how to communicate my thoughts without sounding offensive and how to maintain my bearing.

How long have you been stationed at Misawa?
One month

How long have you been in the Air Force?
Three years

What goals do you want to meet while at Misawa?
I want to become a weapons director instructor, learn how to snowboard and play the acoustic guitar.

What goals do you want to meet during your Air Force career?
I want to deploy at least once.  I also want to complete my Community College of the Air Force degree and earn a bachelor's degree.

Supervisor's comments on why you were selected:
"Even though McWhorter has only been here for a short time, he has shown an eagerness to learn his primary and additional duties and has already shown tremendous dedication to improving the unit and the 35th OG.  He has maintained a positive attitude regardless of the tasks he has been asked to accomplish," said Staff Sgt. Christopher T. Stephens, 610th ACF weapons director.
