Fabrication flight: a broken jet’s last hope

U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Montez Lee, 35th Maintenance Squadron fabrication flight aircraft structural maintenance craftsman, drills out rivets at Misawa Air Base, Japan, March 27, 2013. Fabrication flights are capable of creating parts out of composites, fiberglass, tubing and sheet metal, making them an important part of aircraft maintenance. Not only does aircraft maintenance move faster, but recycled use of materials saves the Air Force approximately $1.5 to 2 million annually. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Kia Atkins)
