During the month of September 2018, three Misawa Airmen received nonjudicial punishment under Article 15, Uniform Code of Military Justice, two honorable discharges and one courts-martial. Commanders used the following as a means of punishment, rehabilitation and maintaining good order and discipline.

Nonjudicial Punishments (Article 15):

A staff sergeant with the 35th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron received an Article 15 for driving while drunk. The member received a suspended reduction to the grade of E-4, forfeiture of $250 pay per month for two months and a reprimand.

An airman 1st class with the 35th Civil Engineer Squadron received an Article 15 for being disrespectful and swearing at two NCOs and punching an NCO in the face. The member received a reduction to the grade of E-2, suspended reduction to the grade of E-1, 60 days restriction to base and a reprimand.

An airman with the 35th CES received an Article 15 for repeatedly failing to show up to morning group physical training and being late to work. The member received a reduction to the grade of E-1, 30 days restriction to base and a reprimand.

Discharges:

An airman with the 35th Maintenance Squadron was involuntarily separated for failing to meet minimum fitness standards and received an Honorable service characterization.

An airman with the 35th CES was involuntarily separated for failing in Alcohol Abuse Treatment for their unwillingness to cooperate and received an Honorable service characterization.

Courts-Martial:

An airman with the 35th MXS was found guilty in a special court-martial to three specifications of misconduct. Specifically, the member failed to refrain from driving a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of 0.03 or higher, operated a vehicle while drunk, and wrongfully used over the counter medication in a manner contrary to its intended medical purpose and in excess of the prescribed dosage. The member was sentenced by a military judge to reduction to the grade of E-1, hard labor without confinement for 21 days, confinement for 21 days and a reprimand.
