Approximately 100,000 Japanese and American nationals gathered together to celebrate the 29th Annual American Day festival at Misawa City, Japan, Oct. 8.

Every year, Misawa AB gives the local community an opportunity to experience American culture through food, live music and performances throughout the two-day event.

“Living in a foreign country and experiencing a different culture is an amazing opportunity,” said Gabrielle Whiteside, wife of Staff Sgt. Kody Whiteside, “Having the opportunity to flip the script and show the Japanese a little bit of American culture within their country is a great way to say 'thank you.'”

During American Day, there were more than 25 events, including performances by Everclear, Vertical Horizon and U.S. Air Force Band of the Pacific Jazz Ensemble, an obstacle course demonstration by Alpha Warrior and many more.
