The first bi-annual Wingman Day kicked-off at Misawa Air Base, Japan, March 31.

Wingman Day events included: a commander’s call, a 3K color run, a firetruck pull, a self-defense class, squadron activities and a Misawa connects booth exchange.

“Wingman Day emphasizes and celebrates the skills that build resilient Airmen,” said Debbie Stevens, 35th Fighter Wing community support coordinator. “It is Airmen with a capital "A," which encompasses every person who makes up the Misawa community and resiliency is achieved through balance in all four domains: mental, physical, spiritual and social. Resiliency skills can be learned, but just like physical fitness the skills need to be practiced for emotional strength and endurance.”

Wingman Day is officially recognized twice a year, but the concepts are designed to be integrated into Airmen’s daily lives for optimum benefit.
