More than 15 volunteers will be available to assist base personnel with filing their 2013 income tax return beginning Feb. 24.

This service has been available to Misawans for more than 20 years. Last year alone, income tax refund volunteers saved the base community $220,445 in tax preparation fees and assisted in $2,510,950 worth of total federal funds.

However, with more than 10,000 servicemembers and dependents on base, the tax center is still in need of volunteers.

"We are always looking for volunteers," said Staff Sgt. Joshua Kennedy, base tax center NCO in charge. "Our volunteers want to help and make sure tax returns are done correctly and quickly. You can use one of the many free tax return services provided by various institutions, including the IRS, but when you come see us, you'll have a person with actual tax return experience to help make sure you are filing everything correctly."

Airmen in the ranks of E-1 through E-4 who only need to file their W-2 will be accepted at the tax center Feb. 10-21 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays.

Appointments will be accepted beginning Feb. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays.

Walk-ins for 1040EZ and 1040A filing will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays.

To file, patrons must bring:
· A photo ID.
· Social Security Cards for self, spouse and dependents.
· Birth dates for all members on the tax return.
· W-2, W-2G, 1099-R and all other tax documents received from an employer.
· Interest and dividend statements from banks.
· Copy of last year's tax return, if available.
· Bank routing numbers and account numbers for direct deposit.
