AGE: Starting from the ground up
Part of the 35th Fighter Wing mission is to project combat air power, and for the aerospace ground equipment flight, the mission starts on the ground with a motto defining the nature of the career field: “no air power without ground power.”

Armament back shop locked, loaded
From rotary launchers to gun systems, the 35th Maintenance Squadron armament back shop ensures the lethality of the F-16 Fighting Falcon. Airmen continually test, repair and perform daily maintenance on alternate mission equipment such as aircraft pylons, missile launchers, bomb racks and targeting pods and guns.

Multi-Domain Airman training kicks off
More than 25 Airmen from the 35th Operations Support Squadron, 35th Logistics Readiness Squadron, 35th Civil Engineer Squadron, 35th Force Support Squadron and 35th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron teamed up to enhance their readiness by participating in the first Multi-Domain Airman training at Misawa Air Base, Japan, Jan. 29. The purpose of this training is to create Airmen who are proficient in multiple areas outside of their own designated career field specialty.

A2D2: We drive to save lives
Airmen Against Drunk Driving transportation services ensure base members get home safely, mitigating any potential risks of impeding the 35th Fighter Wing mission. “A2D2 ensures the safety of the mission’s most important asset: people,” stressed Staff Sgt. Kiernan Judd, a 35th Mental Operations Squadron mental health technician and lead coordinator for A2D2. “By getting our Airmen and families home safely we are doing our best to circumvent DUIs and the career, personal, financial and host nation relation damages that could follow.”

14th AMU Airmen load today to fight tomorrow
Weapons loaders work around the clock, rotating shifts 24 hours a day, seven days a week ensuring every aircraft is armed properly and safely. “We train to sharpen our skills and maintain our readiness as weapons loaders,” expressed Master Sgt. Eric Sparks, a 35th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron weapons loading element NCO in charge. “Our Airmen work day and night, ensuring we practice the best tactics and procedures for the safety of the U.S. and our host-nation.”

Misawa defenders aim high and win big
Three Airmen from the 35th Security Forces Squadron emulated the Air Force’s core value of “excellence in all we do” by standing out amongst other defenders within the Pacific Air Forces. PACAF awarded top honors to three Misawa Wild Weasel Defenders: Master Sgt. Andrew Contreras, a chief of standardization and evaluations, Airman 1st Class Jessica Carino, an armorer and Airman 1st Class Holly Villalta, a base defense operations center controller.
