Firefighters from the 35th Civil Engineer Squadron help a pilot egress from an F-16 Fighting Falcon during a rescue training scenario, Dec. 5, 2012, during an Operational Readiness Exercise at Misawa Air Base, Japan. The scenario simulated smoke in the cockpit and an unconscious pilot. A three-man firefighting crew made entry into the Harden Aircraft Shelter to safely remove the pilot from the aircraft. Firefighters perform pilot egress during ORE
U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Seth Arbogast, 35th Civil Engineer Squadron rescue 5 crew chief firefighter, rescues a pilot at a simulated pilot egress training scenario, Dec. 5, 2012, during an Operational Readiness Exercise at Misawa Air Base, Japan. The training allows firefighters to safely rescue a pilot who cannot get out of the cockpit due to unconsciousness or other obstacles. The 35th Fighter Wing’s ORE tested the Airmen’s ability to operate in a contingency environment while facing multiple threats and bring stability to the Pacific region. (U.S. Air Force by Staff Sgt.
