Suppression of Enemy Air Defense

The Suppression of Enemy Air Defense originated during World War II, when air power become a growing threat to the previously ground-only warfare. The mission used primitive radar systems to seek enemy defense before that had the opportunity to attack. The F-4G became the sole providers of the SEAD mission, until the F-16C Fighting Falcons showcased its superiority during Operation Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom and Inherent Resolve. (Courtesy Photo)
