- Only one A/C unit (approved type) will be allowed per residence:
  • Units will be portable, floor-standing models with excess heat exhausted, via a flexible duct, through a window or door fitted with a "kit".
  • Units will not exceed 9,000 BTU. Units must be 110-120V and 50 Hz.
  • Housing/Dorm Management will provide a list of makes and models which meet the minimum requirements. (linked to the left)
- AAFES is diligently working to acquire a supply for residents to purchase. Locally purchased units off-base will be allowed as long as they meet the requirements detailed above. If purchasing locally, you may also need to purchase a step down transformer.

- Window A/C units are not authorized for use, both for safety and aesthetic reasons.

- You must turn off your portable A/C unit when no residents are in the home.

- Dorm 539 has a capacity limitation and we are unable to support one A/C unit per room. We are working on a fair allocation policy for this dormitory along with options for increasing capacity

- This policy will require "self-policing" among our residents. It's critical not to exceed one unit per residence as excess use could lead to loss of A/C for the entire base due to limited electrical capacity. Failure to comply with the guidelines will lead to the loss of A/C in your unit, possible UCMJ action, and or loss of on base housing privileges and housing allowance.

So, how do you get authorization to use an A/C unit in your quarters?

- Go to the Housing Office or Dorm Management Office and sign the letter acknowledging your understanding of the 35 FW/CC Policy Regarding Use of Portable Air Conditioning Units in your residence.
