From the ashes I rise
U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class D’Andre Daniels, a 35th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron crew chief, poses for a photo at Misawa Air Base, Japan, Aug. 8, 2019. The smoke on his forearm represents a period in his life where he struggled. Daniels said the meaning behind the smoke closely relates to a phoenix bird rising from the ashes, allowing himself to let his past burn out behind him. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st China M.
