Flat Stanley flies with Misawa Airmen

070216 -- BALAD AIR BASE, Iraq -- Capt. Jeffrey Campbell, 332nd Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, holds up Flat Stanley after completing a mission over Iraq. Flat Stanley, a member of Mrs. Principata's 3rd Grade Class of Stephens Elementary, Burlington, Ky., flew a combat mission with Lt. Col. Ken Madura, 14th Expeditonary Fighter Squadron, in aircraft 91-0400 for 3.1 hours. Flat Stanley has been traveling the world for several months and will soon make his way back to school. The Flat Stanley project began back in 1995 when teachers from seven Canadian and six United States schools wanted to find a way to get their students interested in writing. (Courtesy photo)
