Colonel John K. Cartwright is the Commander, 35th Maintenance Group, 35th Fighter Wing, Misawa Air Base, Japan. He is responsible for approximately 1,000 aircraft maintenance personnel who perform on and off- equipment maintenance on 44 F-16CJ aircraft, an O&M budget of over $1 million, a $200 million equipment account, and the daily operations of Pacific Air Forces' regional jet engine intermediate maintenance facility that provides over 156 operational F110 engines valued at over $500 million to three F-16 fighter wings.

Colonel Cartwright entered the Air Force in 1992 as a graduate of the Reserve Officer Training Corps Program at the University of Texas, Arlington, Texas, with a Bachelor of Arts in Radio and Television Production. Colonel Cartwright wears the senior aircraft maintenance and basic supply career field badges. Prior to his current position, Colonel Cartwright served as the commander for the 388th Operations Maintenance Squadron at Hill Air Force Base, Utah; 5th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota; and 354th Maintenance Group at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska.
