Colonel John L. Parker, Commander of the 35th Operations Group, was born in Alexandria, VA and grew up in Stuart, FL. He entered the Air Force in 1990 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, FL where he earned his commission and a bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Science with a minor in Operations.

He has served as a manpower analyst, executive officer, Chief of Standardizations and Evaluations, Flight Commander, Assistant Director of Operations, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) fighter staff officer, Inspector General and Chief, Wing Plans, Programs, and Inspections, and squadron commander. After Undergraduate Pilot Training he transitioned to the F16 multi-role fighter. He has flown operationally world-wide to include Operations NORTHERN WATCH and ALLIED FORCE. Prior to his current assignment he served as Chief, Global Force Management, U.S. Pacific Command, Camp H. M. Smith, Honolulu, HI.
